How many times have I quit smoking? Not enough yet, I suppose…
Tomorrow is the Great American Smoke Out Day and The Fabulous Feathermaye and I have jumped in with both feet…er, make that all four feet.
Our secret? We’re cheating like hell!
Many of you by now have heard about E-cigs (electronic cigarettes). We used them before and have just upgraded to some newer technology, which is proving to hold its own against the powerful addiction that cigarettes possess. It isn’t easy to stop, most of you have already figured that out. E-cigs (we call them vapes) deliver nicotine as an inhaled vapor that dissipates quickly and produces zero smoke, 1st or 2nd hand.
We started full force yesterday so we would be full swing when the sun broke this morning. So far, so good! No withdrawals, no nervousness, in fact no bad symptoms at all! And, for me at least, E-cigs fulfill the most common need that smoking produces in its victims: the need to hold and smoke that damn thing.
Force of habit is a strong urge to overcome. With the E-cigs we don’t have to change our habits, at least not at first.
We’ve never liked smoking. In fact we had both quit after my last heart attack, but we ran into a few situations that created some unexpected stress. Needless to say, those first re-lights had us right back in again. Finally, I believe we’ve found the perfect method to wean ourselves away. At least, for now, we are smoke free.
Just need to stay with it!
