First Book Signing: Poor Richard's Book Shoppe, Gastonia N.C.

Ta-dah!  Okay, so we had our first book signing and combined it with a general reunion with several old friends, as well as our newest pals, the fine folks at Poor Richard’s Book Shoppe in Old Gastonia’s revitalized downtown.

We took all the books we had and even were able to leave a couple behind for those who didn’t get to make it in—yes, they are signed copies!   As these pictures reveal, we had an excellent gathering and enjoyed seeing everyone, catching up on the latest and answering questions about Tormenta, as well as work that is forthcoming.

Bill Keith Sr. was there, waiting on me.  He’s an old pal with Mr. Williams from the Gazette and had offered to do an interview for his blog.   We talked about writing (storytelling), Tormenta and upcoming works.  It was so good to see the man again; I practically grew up in his house.

Kirk Wells met us as we parked the car, lifting me off the ground in a bear hug—Kirk is the only human being I would allow this with, mind you.  It was fantastic to see the smile on his face again, especially after the loss of Keith, which is still stinging us all.

We also saw my old pal Courts Holland and his beautiful daughter, along with Cheri Fullam Davis—you may recall we dated all through high school—who the Fabulous Feathermaye finally got to meet and talk to.  Cheryl Black Loggins was there as well and between her and Cheri we got caught up on a lot of Gastonia news.

Our dear friends Joel and Cheryl Conner came in looking all thin and trim.  They sat though to the end of the gathering and then went around the corner with us for a drink before we had to pack it all in.

We can’t wait to get back out there and do this again.  Hopefully next time, we will think about the time and try to schedule when everyone isn’t tied up at work or in homecoming traffic.  I know we missed seeing a lot of you there who would have been there if they could.

You guys be sure to head in to Poor Richards and shop their shelves.  It’s a great store, right smack in the midst of the new blood that is pumping into the old town again.  Thanks again to Bryan and Sheri Borges for providing a wonderful setting and hosting us.  You guys rock.
